Weekly photo competition winner, 23 November 2012: "Curiosity"
This week's winner in our photo competition is Vadim Ganeyev, one of our friends and partners in Kazakhstan, who shared several fantastic photos with us. This image shows a curious grasshopper.
“He is a talented breeder and very enthusiastic person,” says Yuriy Zelenskiy, CIMMYT wheat breeder in Kazakhstan, who sent us the photos on Vadim’s behalf. “He is the only private breeder in Kazakhstan, and works together with his wife Tatyana, without relying on support from the state or anyone else. His breeding company is named Fiton, and his variety of spring wheat, Lyubava, grows on an area of about one million hectares in Kazakhstan and Russia. Vadim is one of the active members of the KASIB (Kazakhstan-Siberia) Network on wheat improvement and, and a participant in the shuttle breeding programs between Mexico and Kazakhstan. He loves the field, he loves wheat. Despite his busy schedule, he finds time to take photos.”
